Cl@ve is the government’s unified login. Cl@ve PIN (basic) uses a one-time code; Cl@ve Permanente uses a stronger second factor. You register with your NIE/DNI and mobile number — good for many tax and Social Security tasks without a certificate.
Electronic certificate (FNMT / camerfirma)
A cryptographic certificate installed on your device (or a cloud card) proves your identity at the highest assurance level. Often issued by FNMT-RCM or other accredited providers. You usually identify in person or via video for first issuance.
Which should you use?
- Quick start — Cl@ve PIN for everyday filings.
- Maximum compatibility — Certificate for some advanced tax forms and third-party representation.
- Security — Certificate + Cl@ve can coexist; many users keep both.
