ℹ️ Tax Residency Criteria

You are considered a tax resident in Spain if you meet ANY of these criteria:

• Spend more than 183 days in Spain in a calendar year
• Have your main economic activity in Spain
• Have your spouse or dependent children in Spain

Padrón (Empadronamiento)

Certificate of registration at your Spanish address

NIE (Número de Identidad de Extranjero)

Your NIE number or certificate of application

Rental Contract or Property Deed

Proof of your residence in Spain

Passport

Copy of your valid passport

Proof of Income (Optional)

Employment contract or business registration if applicable

Register at Padrón (Local Council)

Timeline: 1-2 weeks

Submit Modelo 030 to Tax Authority

File Modelo 030 (tax registration form) with the Agencia Tributaria (Spanish tax authority).

Timeline: Submit within 3 months of becoming a resident

Update Your Address

Update your address with your bank, employer, and any other relevant institutions.

Timeline: Immediately after registration

Receive Tax Residency Confirmation

Once registered, you'll receive confirmation of your tax residency status from the tax authority.

Timeline: 2-4 weeks after submission
