What is the Vida Laboral?
The Informe de Vida Laboral is an official extract issued by the Seguridad Social (Social Security) listing your employment and affiliation history in Spain: company name, Social Security regime, start/end dates, and contribution bases where shown.
It is not the same as a work contract, payslip, or tax return — it is the administrative mirror of what Social Security holds about your insured activity.
When banks and others ask for it
Mortgage and some bank account applications use it to verify stable employment in Spain. Employers or universities may request it alongside other proofs. Autónomos appear under their self-employment scheme — the format differs slightly from employees.
What you will see on the report
- Periods listed by date range and employer or scheme.
- Your NUSS (Social Security number) and personal details.
- Sometimes contribution group or regime codes — gestors use these for benefits and pensions.
How to obtain it
You can usually download it instantly with Cl@ve, digital certificate, or by visiting a Social Security office. If you are newly affiliated, allow a short delay until your first contributions appear in the system.
